GIFTS FROM OUR QUILTING FAMILY TO THOSE WHO NEED A "QUILT" HUG |
| WOW, it seems I just wrote an update for the March newsletter. The days are passing quickly toward summer and a whole new mode of quilting. To those of you reading this, let your friends know there is information added to the site each month that may interest them. Encourage them to read the newsletter. Our HEB "Sew Outing" was fun yesterday. Three o'clock rolls around before you know it. Judy McNutt, Joy Jackson, Trena Stephens, Carmen D'Amico, Darleen Patin, Ashley Ward, Karen Shively, Marie--a newcomer, and I spent time making pillowcases, feedsack pattern quilts, labeling quilts, and working on other projects. Thanks to Richard Shively for keeping our quilt label supply filled and Karen for delivering them and storing all our fabric in her garage. Next HEB "Sew Outing"--April 28, 2010, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Kelly Matte is always accommodating in allowing us to use her space to quilt. At our March meeting, we had completed projects and new projects taken by volunteers: Ann Grant, Barbara Baxter, Linda Fletcher, Linda Shepard, Rita Czervinske, Mary Lou Cooper, Michelle Hudson, Darleen Patin, Trena Stephens, Nancie Roach, Sharon Blifford, Joyce Marks, Barbara Beck, Penny Stanaford, Linda Mimnaugh, and Auian Ward Spring Break gave my daughter, Alexandria Ward a chance to earn some community service hours. Thanks Alex for going with the flow. See, it was fun after all and worth getting up early. 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge-We are off to a great start on making pillowcases to deliver to Sunflower Quilts and Quilter's Emporium to be given to different charity organizations. THANKS---- Linda Fletcher, Linda Shepard, Rita Czervinske, Sharon Tusa, Gayle Scholer, Penny Stanaford, Katherine Onstott, Dorothy Kelly. Sharon Blifford, Cheryl Moncrief, Linda Payonk, and Marie Patten for taking pillowcase kits to complete. Check out these websites if you need directions on how to make a "hot dog" technique pillowcase. allpeoplequilt.com and missouriquiltco.com We are in need of backing fabric. Darleen Patin found a great deal at JoAnn's and purchased 19 yards of three different fabrics for about $35. Quilt hugs to her. Bo's Place quilts--If you are interested in completing one of these quilts, please let me know. Thanks Ann Grant, Penny Stanaford, Barbara Baxter, Karen Shively, and Auian Ward for working on the last group of quilts. Contact Courtney Varner at Bo's Place if you are interested in taking a tour of the facility to see all the quilts that have been made and hung on the walls of each floor of the building. We can always use fabric yardage and usable scraps, tools, batting, backing fabric. We are putting together a kit of tools to use at HEB, so if you have rotary cutters, mats, and rulers to donate, we could use them. CALLING ALL QUILTERS: As we get completed quilt tops back and bundle them with backing fabric and batting, we need volunteers to quilt them. Use any technique you want--you can even tie them. This is a good way to practice your quilting before moving on to a final project of yours that you want to quilt. CONDOLENCES: To the family of Michael Walton. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, March 27, 2010, @ 1:00 p.m. at The Lutheran Church on Wheeler Ave. near TSU. Thanks for returning your completed projects in a timely fashion. Please look for the CPQG label that is tucked in the bundled quilts and attach it to the back of each quilt you complete. Don't forget to collect a ticket at the meetings when you return or donate items. Your name could be drawn for a door prize. Mark your calendar for the First Wednesday Bee, April 7, 2010. You can help match fabrics and pack kits for the projects brought to the Guild meetings. This event is held at Karen Shively's house from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Check the website or call before coming if the weather is inclement. |
